After a week's full agenda - and we must admit, we usually accomplished almost all of it, don't we? - we are probably left with little energy, opportunity or incentive for hitting the town with our girl friends. But, that doesn't mean we can't create an equally fun moms' night in! Erika Lenkert, the Glam Living Editor of GlamNet Blog, gives us some tips and ideas of what we can do for a moms' night in.
Tips and Ideas for a Moms' Night In by Erika Lenkert, Glam Living Editor, GlamNest.
With a babysitter and a little planning, an all-girl house party has all the makings for a memorable night—minus hellacious hangovers and a don't-ask-don't-tell policy. Before you roll your eyes at thoughts of pillow fights and crank calls, check out these four fun theme parties that will bring out the playful kid in even the most overextended mom.
SPA NIGHT: Give the gang an opportunity to unwind with a relaxing night of rejuvenating activity. Ask guests to bring their comfiest lounge wear and robes, recruit a manicurist to give fast manis and a masseuse for rotating shoulder or foot massages. Serve bubbly or keep it clean with sparkling water with crushed mint and offer light fare such as grilled vegetable skewers, Chinese chicken salad, and fresh berries and whipped-cream parfaits. Scatter good gossip magazines, light a scented candle, and everyone will be in aaahhh.
COOKING CLASS: Create a tasty evening with a do-it-yourself cooking class. Plan an adventurous menu that can be prepared quickly and simultaneously, such as a satay appetizer, pasta entree, side salad, and dessert. Buy the ingredients, and create cooking stations for each course within your kitchen. Set out the necessary equipment, ingredients, and corresponding recipes, assign guests to make one or two dishes, and let the fun begin. Send friends home with leftovers and copies of the recipes.
GAME NIGHT: Gather the girls around the table for a rollicking game of cards, Scrabble, or any other competitive amusement that gets the fun and gossip flowing. Serve an array of grab-and-go beverages and a sumptuous buffet of gourmet cracker sandwiches (include Ritz Crackers, mini slices of cheese and meats, herbed goat cheese, fancy mustard, chicken salad, and thinly sliced cucumber wheels), chips and guacamole, and bite-size brownie dominoes (get the look with white icing) or poker-chip cookies.
CHICK-FLICK NIGHT: Warn friends it'll be a tearjerker by writing the party details on mini packs of tissue. Pick a double-header that's sure not to leave a dry eye in the house—think Terms of Endearment, Life Is Beautiful, and The Notebook. Scatter pillows on the floor around the couch and coffee table, serve a concession-stand menu of vanilla vodka with Coke, popcorn, hotdogs, and classic candies, and press Play.
If you're planning a night in with the girls fruit gift baskets can be alot of fun to share. Corporate gift baskets can come in all sizes and shapes depending on what kind of gift basket you want to send. Some of the more popular kinds of gift baskets are gift baskets for men, sympathy gift baskets and popcorn gift baskets.
Have a wonderful weekend!
