Homemade Hot Chocolate

For those chilly days and a nice treat for this weekend, how about a nice homemade hot chocolate?  This is a simple to do recipe that come even more handy when you do not have the instant hot chocolate pack, and that you can prepare lots of to last until the Spring!

This recipe only contains 3 main ingredients, cocoa, sugar and salt, and the recipes make 5 3/4 cups of dry mix or 92 eight-ounce servings.  But, of course, you can adjust the measurement as you see fit.

Ingredients for the mix

• 3 1/2 cups of sugar
• 2 1/4 cups of cocoa
• 1 tbsp of salt
• Whole milk for serving

Recall Alert: Evenflo® Children’s Activity Centers

Another welll known baby products company makes a voluntary recall of one of its products.  The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced yesterday, February 17, 2009 a voluntary recall of the  Evenflo® ExerSaucer Triple Fun stationary activity center due to fall hazard. 

When used as an activity table, the cap on one end of the product can loosen and fall off, posing a fall hazard to a young child.

Consumers should immediately stop using the activity table in Stage 3 and contact Evenflo to receive a free replacement end cap. The product may continue to be used in Stages 1 and 2 without changes.

Barbie's 50th Anniversary Show

 

Barbie turned 50 and her birthday was well celebrated in New York City during Fashion Week. Famous designers, Diane Von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, Marchesa, Rag & Bone among other doll designers, contributed to the reproduction of a modernized version of Barbie's wardrobe, which was shown on the runways this past Saturday, February 14, Valentine's Day!

For those moms who have little girls or older girls who used to love to play with Barbie, they will absolutey love watching the slide show of Barbie's 50th Anniversary Fashion Show in New York and the clothes worn by "real and live" Barbie models!

Moms Buzz Goes to Fashion Week in NYC - Part I

The past weekend Moms Buzz spent her time from runway show to runway show during New York's Fall/Winter 2009 Fashion Week. Boy, is that tiring!

It is hard to explain the wonderful experience it is to see all those amazingly tall and beautiful women, perfectly shaped as mannequin, showing exquisite outfits, flawless make overs with gorgeous hairdos and hair extensions, just the perfect human specimen. Besides, the excitement created by the attending celebrities, the equally elegant and chic audience, a wall of tons of paparazzi ready to shoot the perfect photo for show and tell, and the cool music igniting the spectacle was just the perfect setting to captivate any busy mom and transport her to a world of endless beauty and glamour, period! So, so different to the mommy world! You bet!

Dectecting Dyslexia

 

It seems that today, children are diagnosed more frequently with disorders than before, and it may well be because before there was much less information available or still more to discover.  Today, since parents have more information available to them, they can suspect a possible disorder, in this case, dyslexia, when the following red flags exist:

Drink for this Weekend: The Heartbreaker for Valentine's

Whatever you plans may be for this Valentine's, you can always have a little something before with your hubby, and especially more so, if you are just staying in.  Prepare this beguiling concoction to woo him! They say that its mesmerizing combination of sparkling rosé wine and raspberry rum can seduce the even most serious charmers and leave them longing for more!  So, to prove that you can add a side of sassy candies like in the photo, strike a confident pose, and make him fall in love again! ;)

Here is the magic recipe:

• 4 ounces chilled sparkling rosé wine
• 1 ounce Bacardi Razz rum
• In a champagne flute combine the rum and the sparkling wine.
• Serve.
