Shopping is easy, but returning sometime may becomes a headache if the return policy is not what we expected to be or took for granted that you would get your money back. When you buy something, especially during the holiday season that we shop and shop for days and can get tired after serious shopping, make sure you ask the salesperson (or read if buying online) these 2 questions about their return policy:
- What is their return policy and how long do I have to return this item in the event it does not work out?
- Will I get my full refund or store credit?
Many stores now offer the convenience of returning in-store when bought online. But, PLEASE, make sure that you keep the receipt shipped with your item when you go to the store to make the return. They may not give you your money back if you do not have that receipt.
This happened to me, which I was very upset about because I wanted my money back. I took the email confirmation and not the shipped receipt because I could not find it. They acknowledged the purchase with the email confirmation and gave me instead a merchandise credit. I just could not believe it. It was with Banana Republic, which you would have thought, they would give me the money back knowing that only they sell their merchandise!
So be smart when shopping this holiday season whether online or in-store.
